It’s times like these where you realize how subjective celebrity photographs are. Only now does Vanity Fair pull out this Annie Leibovitz shot of Tiger taken in 2001. A nice reminder that photographs are selected to confirm what the public already thinks of a celebrity, not to reveal some deeper truth.

I haven’t seen “The Blind Side,” but I really couldn’t be happier about Sandra Bullock’s career resurgence. That said…can anyone explain why she’s giving herself a mustache on the cover of EW? I find it utterly bizarre.

Rihanna covers the January issue of GQ. The photos are amazing/crazy, but the interview paints a suprising light on her and her management. Worth reading.
Excerpt:
“Rihanna looks at the Hovering Manager and then mutters something about having just spoken to Diane Sawyer about all this. But here’s the weird thing: You get the feeling that Rihanna still has a lot to say. Her eyes are wet when anything Chris Brown-related comes up. She has a tendency to stare off into the distance when she talks about It—but then she meets the glare of the manager. Maybe she does want to go there—and can’t. Or perhaps it is dawning on Rihanna that to really step out and be the kind of advocate she says she wants to be is another burden altogether.”

Two princesses of pop share the January 2010 cover of Elle. Which copy would you pick up? I have to say I prefer the poker face to the family portrait.

The New York Times Magazine has a truly fascinating/oddly chilling cover story on Megan Fox this weekend. The story chronicles Megan’s media predicament—she’s built a larger-than-life persona that doesn’t translate to box office success. What’s depressing about the profile, though, is that it’s about how Fox is trying to transition from the hot girl with salacious sound bites…to a more private, insular actress. Yet, the article is littered with her classically blunt confessions. The whole article is worth reading, but some choice Fox quotes include:
“Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18. The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore. The instinct among girls is to attack the jugular.”
“I’ve learned that being a celebrity is like being a sacrificial lamb. At some point, no matter how high the pedestal that they put you on, they’re going to tear you down. And I created a character as an offering for the sacrifice. I’m not willing to give my true self up. It’s a testament to my real personality that I would go so far as to make up another personality to give to the world. The reality is, I’m hidden amongst all the insanity. Nobody can find me.”
“I’m going as Minnie Mouse. I won’t be disguised as Minnie Mouse, but for some reason, I really wanted to be Minnie Mouse. It’s cute and it’s not slutty or trashy. Everyone in Hollywood buys their costumes at Trashy Lingerie, and they’re the slutty Dorothy or slutty whomever. I went to that store to buy a red tutu for my Minnie costume, and there was a Snow White costume. And Brian was like, you should do that. But I didn’t want to be the slutty Snow White. Not this year.”
“I had my first sex scene in that movie. I had on underwear and silicone covers that you wear over your breasts. I would never be naked in a film. You should never say never, but my body parts are all I have left that are only mine. The world owns everything else.”
Candy is the brand new “transversal style” fashion magazine. These tranz are fiercer than I’ll ever be. Maybe I can have a “Dear Candy” column.

i’m kind of really obsessed with this “harper’s bazaar” photo shoot of r-patz and k-stew. it’s remarkable, though, how you can dress kristen in the most extravagant dresses in the biggest budget photo shoot, and she still looks at you like your older sister when mom is making her take you to a movie. she just has better things to do. it makes you feel guilty, but you’re still so happy she’s giving you want you want.

I love everything about this cover of Korean Vogue ft. Josh Hartnett & some Korean rando, especially the fact that all three of these headlines could reasonably be the caption for the cover shot.
